Gaetano Perchiazzi is Director of the Hedenstierna Laboratory and Adjunct Full Professor of Anesthesia and Intensive Care at Uppsala University, Sweden. He is consultant at Uppsala University Hospital and an Allvar Gullstrand Grant Research Fellow. His research focuses on mechanical ventilation and respiratory mechanics, with a particular emphasis on numerical image analysis, including CT, PET, EIT and SRCT. He was one of the pioneers in the use of artificial intelligence to extract information from respiratory tracings, the subject of his PhD thesis more than 20 years ago.
