Professor Girardis is a respected figure in Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine, serving as the head of the Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Department at Modena University Hospital and as a Full Professor at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. His clinical practice centers on sepsis, solid organ transplantation, and shock management, addressing the complex needs of critically ill patients. In research, he focuses on critical care, particularly exploring infections and oxygen transport, from fundamental pathophysiology to novel therapeutic interventions. Professor Girardis leads numerous funded clinical research projects, contributes to National and European Societies of Intensive Care Medicine, and serves on editorial boards of key journals in Anaesthesiology and intensive care. With around 300 indexed publications, he is a respected scholar and a frequent speaker at national and international congresses, sharing his expertise with colleagues globally.
