Dr Mateusz Zawadka, MD, PhD, DESAIC, EDIC is an Associate Professor and consultant in anaesthesia and intensive care at the 2nd Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care, Medical University of Warsaw. He completed clinical fellowships at St Bartholomew’s Hospital and King’s College Hospital in London, and earned his PhD in perioperative echocardiography. He completed his habilitation in 2025 with a thesis on ultrasonography in anaesthesiology and intensive care. His research focuses on critical care echocardiography, ultrasound-guided vascular access, and POCUS education. He is a member of the ESICM GENIUS (General Intensive Care Ultrasound) core faculty and a past member of the WINFOCUS Board of Directors. In Poland, he leads the Echocardiography and Ultrasound Committee of the Polish Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Therapy (PTAiIT), where he developed the national POCUS accreditation framework.
